Ballot Paper Mystery: Missing Forms Spark Controversy Ahead of Himachal Panchayat Polls

Two ballot papers for Himachal Pradesh's upcoming panchayat elections have gone missing, leading to the registration of an FIR against eight individuals. The elections will take place in three phases, with results for most positions announced on May 31. Over 50 million voters are expected to participate.

An electoral mystery has emerged in Himachal Pradesh as two ballot papers for the imminent panchayat elections have been reported missing from the Solan district. Law enforcement has registered a First Information Report against eight people in response to the incident, according to Superintendent of Police Tirumalaraju SD Varma.

This situation occurs as preparations are underway for elections across 3,754 gram panchayats, which will unfold in three phases on May 26, 28, and 30. Positions being contested include 21,654 gram panchayat members, 3,754 pradhans, 3,754 up pradhans, alongside 1,679 Panchayat Samiti and 251 Zila Parishad members.

With more than 50 million voters, including new and first-time voters, set to cast their ballots, the elections are a significant event. Results for gram panchayats, pradhans, and up pradhans will be declared immediately, while outcomes for Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad members will be announced on May 31.
