The Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, has arrived in Sri Lanka on a three-day official visit to further strengthen.

The Indian Air Force Chief, who arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake on Monday, is scheduled to remain in the island until May 21, according to the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).

The visit is aimed at further strengthening the longstanding defence cooperation and mutual friendship between the two nation, officials said.

On reaching Sri Lanka, he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Air Force headquarters.

Later, he paid floral tributes at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Battaramulla.

Thereafter, he held an official meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart, Air Marshal VB Edirisinghe, before meeting the Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekera and the Defence Secretary Sampath Thuiyakontha.

Singh will also pay homage and seek blessings at the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy..

He would also call on the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy.
