Rubio will visit Sweden for NATO meeting and then India
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Sweden for a meeting of NATO foreign ministers this week where he will discuss the need for "greater burden sharing" by the alliance, and then visit India, the State Department said on Tuesday.
The top U.S. diplomat will stop in Helsingborg on May 22 for the NATO talks, and also hold bilateral meetings with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the department said.
Rubio will then visit India from May 23-26, stopping in Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi, where he will discuss energy security, trade, and defense cooperation with senior Indian officials, department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a statement.
