More than 20,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voter information from June 15 to July 14 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Exercise in Haryana.

A total of 20,629 BLOs have been appointed to carry out the month-long exercise in the state.

On Wednesday, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer A Sreenivas urged all recognised parties in the state to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) in the coming week for a ''pure and accurate electoral rolls.''.

Briefing reporters here on Thursday, Sreenivas said close to 13,000 BLAs have been appointed by political parties.

Sreenivas said that as of May 12, the total number of electors in Haryana stood at 2,06,63,155.

On Wednesday, he urged the deputy commissioners-cum-district election officers to coordinate with resident welfare associations in such cities as Gurugram, Faridabad, Panchkula, and Sonipat, where a large number of multi-storey residential societies exist, and BLOs are often denied entry.

He directed that RWAs should be instructed to allow BLOs and BLAs access to collect information for the SIR.

The BLAs are nominated for specific polling station areas by the recognised political parties to assist and work alongside BLOs, who are appointed by the election authority for the respective polling stations.

The CEO said that mapping work related to electoral rolls in the state was 64 per cent complete.

He called SIR a complete rehaul of the electoral roll, with no eligible elector left out and no non-eligible electors added.

He stated that assembly constituency-wise help desks, as well as help desks at all district headquarters, would be established to assist voters while the SIR work is carried out.

The last SIR exercise in the state was conducted in 2003.

Under the third phase of the SIR campaign, July 1 has been fixed as the qualifying date for Haryana.

Preparatory work, training and printing activities under the campaign will be undertaken from June 5 to June 14, 2026. Three rounds of training for BLOs and other staff are already over, with another round scheduled.

Sreenivas said that the rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will be complete by July 14, and the draft electoral rolls will be published on July 21.

Claims and objections may thereafter be filed from July 21 to August 20, and their disposal will be carried out from July 21 to September 18.

The final electoral roll will be published on September 22.
