The BJP on Friday slammed the Congress over its Uttar Pradesh unit president Ajay Rai's alleged remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said it reflects the main opposition party's frustration.
The BJP's reaction came after a purported video of Rai went viral in which he was heard making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Modi in Mahoba.
He termed the video fake and AI-generated by BJP men, and said he would lodge a police complaint.
Reacting sharply to the Congress leader's alleged remarks, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said in a video message, ''Ajay Rai has now followed the lead of Rahul Gandhi and he has used the most unspeakable language against Prime Minister Modi.''.
Rai insulted the constitutional post and people of India who have voted for PM Modi, Poonawalla charged.
''It shows the frustration of the Congress. When they have no real things to criticise PM Modi, they resort to abuse. They resort to this kind of politics,'' the BJP spokesperson added.
Poonawalla said this is not the first time the prime minister has been abused.
''About 150 bad words have been given to Prime Minister Modi. There is a pattern in the Congress. But the people of the country will never forget the language they use,'' the BJP spokesperson said.
''The prime minister had extended courtesy to him (Ajay Rai) when he was not well. But look at the 'sanskar' (culture) of the Congress party,'' Poonawalla added.
Slamming Rai over his alleged remarks, another BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said the culture of Rahul Gandhi's Congress has degenerated.
''Every leader within the dynastic Congress party is frustrated by the fact that security and stability have prevailed in India under the Modi government,'' he said in a post on X in Hindi.
Bhandari alleged that Rai's ''derogatory'' remarks directed at the prime minister exposed the Congress leader's ''hatred'' against Modi.
Rai's remarks also reflected the frustration of the Congress and its culture of abuse, the BJP spokesperson said.
''While the Congress glorifies anti-national elements, it abuses the people of the country and democratically elected prime minister. The language of the Congress is inspired by 'Urban Naxals','' he added.
