The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand has announced its decision to contest the Rajya Sabha elections, slated for June 18, by fielding a candidate for one seat in the upper house of Parliament.
The announcement came after a state election committee meeting led by BJP state president Aditya Sahu. General Secretary Amar Kumar Bauri emphasized the party's focus on not just participating but also ensuring victory in the elections.
The BJP-led NDA holds 24 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly, requiring at least 28 votes to clinch victory. Meanwhile, JMM has raised concerns over potential "horse trading" as it holds a significant majority with its allies.
