Zelenskiy Urges U.S. for Urgent Air Defense Support
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has called on U.S. President Donald Trump and Congress to assist Ukraine in bolstering its air defense systems against Russian ballistic missile threats. He emphasized the need for Patriot missile systems and interceptors, as current provisions are insufficient to match escalating tensions and ensure Ukraine's security.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appealed to the United States for assistance in strengthening Ukraine's air defenses as tensions with Russia escalate. In a letter addressed to both President Donald Trump and Congress, Zelenskiy highlighted the urgent need for Patriot missile systems and interceptors to counter Moscow's ballistic missile threat.
He emphasized that while Ukraine is willing to purchase these systems, the existing supply through NATO initiatives is inadequate to meet the growing threat. Zelenskiy stressed the importance of U.S. support, acknowledging the critical role it plays in ensuring Ukraine's security and stability.
Noting the latest massive strike involving 30 Russian ballistic missiles, of which Ukraine’s air force managed to intercept only 11, Zelenskiy reiterated that Moscow's reliance on ballistic missiles is its last significant advantage on the battlefield. He underscored the necessity for swift and effective action to support Ukraine's defenses.
