Karnataka's Siddaramaiah Steps Down, Shivakumar to Succeed

Siddaramaiah resigned as Karnataka's Chief Minister, submitting his resignation to the Governor's representative. The Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is set to take over following Congress leadership directives. The resignation was submitted in the Governor's absence, while supportive cabinet members joined the outgoing Chief Minister.

Siddaramaiah has resigned from his position as Chief Minister of Karnataka, handing over his resignation to the Governor's Special Secretary at the Lok Bhavan. In the absence of the Governor, Thaawarchand Gehlot, due to personal commitments, the resignation was received by Prabhu Shankar.

D K Shivakumar, the state's Deputy Chief Minister and other cabinet members, accompanied Siddaramaiah, indicating the support from within the party ranks. Siddaramaiah earlier notified his cabinet colleagues during a breakfast meeting about the Congress high command's decision for Shivakumar to succeed him. The official announcement was marked by warm gestures between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, symbolizing a peaceful transition of power.
