Girish Chodankar appointed new Goa Congress chief, replaces Amit Patkar

The Congress party has appointed Girish Chodankar as the new president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, replacing Amit Patkar.

The Congress on Friday appointed Girish Chodankar as the new president of Goa Pradesh Congresss Committee, in place of Amit Patkar.

The party also appointed three new working presidents in the coastal state - M K Shaikh, Altone D'Costa and Carlos Alvares Ferreira, while Datta D Naik has been appointed as the treasurer.

''The Congress president has appointed Girish Chodankar as new president of Goa Pradesh Congress,'' a statement from AICC general secretary, Organisation, K C Venugopal said.

The party appreciates the contribution of the outgoing PCC president Amit Patkar,'' it also said.

It further said that the Congress president has also approved the proposal for appointment of chairpersons and co-chairpersons of the Campaign, Manifesto and Coordination Committees for Goa.

While Yuri Alemao will be the chairman of campaign committee, Captain Viriato Fernandes has been appointed as chairman of the Manifesto Committee and Francisco Sardinha will be the chairman of the Coordination Committee.

Sunil Kawthankar will be the co-chairperson of the Coordination Committee.
