The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed its candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, covering 10 out of 16 seats in local authorities' constituencies. The party also named Dr Rajiv Potdar as its representative for the Nagpur constituency's by-election.

These selections were approved by the party's Central Election Committee in preparation for elections set for June 18. The BJP plans to contest 11 seats with the Shiv Sena targeting four and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) contesting two. Former minister Pravin Pote Patil is among the key figures contesting for the BJP in Amravati.

Additional nominee highlights include Arun Lakhani for Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli, Avinash Brahmankar for Bhandara-Gondia, and former MLA Rajendra Raut for Solapur. The seats are distributed across various regions, with local self-government body members forming the electoral college.

The Nagpur seat was opened following Chandrashekhar Bawankule's election to the assembly. Success in these elections is significant for the BJP as it underscores support among local representatives beyond major urban centers.
