Adityanath Advocates Enhanced Training for Civil Defence in Disaster Response

Uttar Pradesh's chief minister highlights the evolving role of civil defence, urging advanced training and greater volunteer involvement for disaster readiness. Review meeting focuses on modernising the department's tactics and strengthening its capabilities for effective response.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized the pivotal role of civil defence staff in disaster management beyond traditional wartime duties. Adityanath underscored the importance of advanced training for volunteers to ensure quick reactions during crises.

During a review of the civil defence department's operations, Adityanath stressed strengthening skills in areas such as firefighting, first-aid, and rescue efforts. He proposed that retired Army personnel take part in training programs and involved educational organisations like the NCC and NSS in civil defence activities.

The chief minister noted the necessity for an informed society, proposing CPR and first-aid education for volunteers and the use of sirens for disaster alerts. Enhancements include drafting comprehensive plans and speeding up volunteer recruiting for newly covered districts.

Adityanath called for frequent mock drills involving stakeholders and advocated for the continuous development of the civil defence department into a robust entity in public safety and disaster management.
