The Indian National Congress is poised to nominate Praveen Chakravarty as its candidate for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat representing Tamil Nadu. According to sources, Chakravarty will file his nomination papers at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Secretariat in Chennai.

Girish Chodankar, Congress' Tamil Nadu in-charge, expressed gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK Chief Joseph Vijay for allocating the Rajya Sabha seat to Congress. Chodankar applauded the move as a testament to the coalition's commitment to democratic values and a shared vision for political cooperation.

Amidst these developments, Chakravarty voiced concerns over the reduced funding allocation to Tamil Nadu under the VB-GRAM-G Bill. While the state's share for the 100-day employment scheme dropped significantly, he highlighted the increased financial support for Gujarat, questioning the motives behind this change.
