Congress and BJP Announce Candidates for Crucial Rajya Sabha Elections
The Congress and BJP have officially announced their candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections set for June 18. The Congress named Mallikarjun Kharge and others, while BJP's list features key leaders like Tai Tagak and Tarun Chugh. The elections will fill 24 seats across ten states.

On Thursday, the Congress unveiled its list of candidates for the impending Rajya Sabha elections slated for June 18. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge has been nominated from Karnataka, alongside Mansoor Ali Khan and Pawan Khera. From Madhya Pradesh, Meenakshi Natarajan has been nominated, while Neeraj Dangi will represent Rajasthan. Praveen Chakravarty and Pranav Jha are set to contest from Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand, respectively.
In rapid succession, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also disclosed its official roster of 11 candidates. The Central Election Committee (CEC) has finalized representatives to strengthen their position in the Upper House. Notable figures include Tai Tagak from Arunachal Pradesh and Tarun Chugh from Madhya Pradesh.
The Election Commission had earlier, on June 3, signaled the commencement for the biennial elections covering 24 Rajya Sabha seats from ten states. The stakes include key political figures aiming for seats in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat, among others. Nominations are underway, closing on June 8, with by-elections also slated for a few states.
