With the Bihar Legislative Council elections scheduled for June 18, Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha has expressed great satisfaction over Health Minister Nishant Kumar's nomination. Jha emphasized Nishant Kumar's commendable work in the Health Department, reflecting the party's confidence in his abilities as he takes a more prominent role in future party activities.

Speaking to ANI, Jha stated, "Nishant Kumar is filing his nomination, which brings immense joy to our party. His effective management of the Health Department is noteworthy, and we anticipate his increased involvement in upcoming endeavors." The Janata Dal (United) has named its candidates for the 2026 elections, including Nishant Kumar from Patna, Bharti Mehta from Madhubani, and Shivrani Devi Prajapati from West Champaran. Lalan Prasad is set to contest the Sheikhpura by-election.

The elections aim to fill a total of ten seats in the Bihar Legislative Council, nine of which are biennial, while the tenth is a bypoll for a seat left by ex-Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, now a Rajya Sabha member. The political landscape is further shifting as key seats are vacated by newly elected MLAs, prompting parties to strategize their candidate selections.

In a turn of electoral events, the BJP's Central Election Committee has put forward Sheela Pandit, Pawan Singh, Sanjay Mayukh, and Anil Kumar Thakur for the elections. The voting and election process underscore the competitive spirit and strategic alliances within Bihar's dynamic political sphere.
