The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is launching a comprehensive awareness drive to address concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. This initiative comes in response to the Election Commission's ongoing summary revision of electoral lists, which mandates Booth Level Officers to conduct extensive voter verification.
The Congress party has historically championed democratic ideals, but it now accuses the BJP-led NDA government of manipulating the Election Commission for political gains. KPCC aims to prevent the unjust removal of legitimate voters and ensure its supporters remain on the rolls. Under AICC guidance, the party seeks to draw public focus on maintaining democracy's sanctity.
Statewide campaigns dubbed 'Congress Nade Matadarara Kadege' are underway, with a successful meeting recently conducted in Devanahalli. The KPCC emphasizes collaboration with progressive groups and has constituted an SIR Voter List Review Committee, assigning senior party figures as observers for the initiative.
Large-scale gatherings titled 'SIR Jagrutha Samaveshas' are planned across key locations including Mangaluru, Hubballi, Mysuru, and Bengaluru. Initiated by AICC's Randeep Surjewala and KPCC President BK Hariprasad, these events aim to galvanize support. The Congress has called for active participation from party leaders and supporters to uphold electoral integrity.
The party outlined its schedule, with awareness meetings set to take place from June 23 in Mangaluru, concluding in Bengaluru on June 30. Notable Congress figures, including Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and former CM Siddaramaiah, are expected to participate, lending their support to ensure the campaign's success.
