In a fiery denunciation, Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Kirti Azad has condemned the actions of 20 rebel MPs who have defected to the Nationalist Citizens Party of India. Calling them 'traitors,' Azad raised questions about the legal validity of the party they have chosen to join.
Speaking to ANI, Azad reiterated the Trinamool Congress's stance that the faction led by Mamata Banerjee is the true representation of the party. He accused the defectors of acting out of personal ambition, particularly in their pursuit of ministerial positions, rather than adhering to any ideological differences.
Azad further argued that the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, described as an 'unrecognised and unregistered' entity with no parliamentary presence, offers no legitimate political weight. He suggested the merger was an undemocratic maneuver that highlighted internal divisions within the rebel group.
