Vietnam Strengthens Diplomatic Ties with Azerbaijan

Vietnam and Azerbaijan are strengthening their diplomatic ties in an effort to promote bilateral cooperation. Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov described Vietnam as an important partner in Southeast Asia. Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said they share a close traditional friendship. Both countries share a warm and cordial relationship which is more than 20-years old.

Azerbaijan has assisted Vietnam in setting up oil production, provide education and training opportunities for potential Vietnamese specialists. Moreover, thousands of Azerbaijani specialists have participated in Vietnam's reconstruction and development post-war. Both countries have been engaged in regular consultations on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Geopolitical observers say the Azerbaijan - Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation gave the two countries wide opportunities for a detailed discussion of the future prospects. Vietnam and Azerbaijan also have existing cooperation in the humanitarian field.
