Nurul Izzah Returns to Parliamentary Oversight Committee

Nurul Izzah, the Patri Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) lawmaker is set to rejoin the bipartisan Public Accounts Committee (PAC) after quitting last month.

Izzah decided to return following discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH) chief whip Johari Abdul and approval from the Parliament Speaker. She said the structure of the PAC which provides checks and balances is crucial to the country and the reform agenda should be prioritized in parliament.

The lawmaker's decision came about when Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad tabled a motion to change the PAC's chairman. He chose a lawmaker from his own party and another from the opposition bloc. PAC is a parliamentary oversight committee that scrutinizes financial matters and accounts.
