G20 Development Working Group's meeting ends in Goa

The third G20 Development Working Group's meeting ended here on Thursday.

As many as 80 delegates from the member as well as invitee countries participated in the meeting, officials said.

The meeting, which began on May 8 at a resort near Panaji, was co-chaired by Nagaraj K Naidu and Eenam Gambhir, both joint secretaries in the Ministry of External Affairs.

The formal meeting started on May 9 with a video address by Secretary (Economic Relations) of the Ministry of External Affairs, Dammu Ravi, who highlighted that India has put forth an ambitious agenda for the DWG that aims to bring about inclusive and sustainable development.

Outcome documents proposed by India including High Level Principles (HLPs) for Data for Development, HLPs for LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment) and Action Plan on Accelerating Progress on the SDGs will directly feed into the Green Development Pact that will be adopted at the Leaders' summit in September, sources quoted Ravi as saying.

On Tuesday morning, an exhibition showcasing products made by India's women entrepreneurs was also inaugurated. The exhibition was based on the theme "ECHO" (Economy with safe Climate and Health leads to greater Opportunities).

It was organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and curated by the National Institute of Fashion Technology.
