6.6 magnitude quake rattles east of Solomon Islands

An earthquake measuring 6.6 magnitude struck east of the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, at a depth of 33 km (20 miles), was centred 161 kms (100 miles) east of Kira Kira in the Solomon Islands.
