The death toll from a tragic incident involving a pick-up van running over pedestrians in Uttar Pradesh's Budaun district has risen to five, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Originally, the accident, which occurred on the Bisauli-Aonla road, claimed four lives, leaving two others critically injured.

The tragedy unfolded when victims Prakash (42), Brajpal (35), Dhanpal (55), and Gyan Singh (40) were resting under a tree in Paigam Bhikampur village. The van, losing control, struck them fatally. The driver has been detained by Bisauli police.
