Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, conducted a thorough inspection of areas affected by forest fires in Uttarakhand and reviewed measures to manage this ongoing disaster. Expressing government commitment to addressing the root causes of forest fires, Shri Yadav emphasized the importance of safeguarding valuable forest resources.

During his field visit, Shri Yadav visited various sites within the Narendra Nagar and Tehri forest divisions under the Bhagirathi Circle. He inspected remote forest areas affected by fires and assessed the preparedness of the Forest Department. Key forest ranges like Shivpuri, Hindolakhal, Bemunda, and Agrakhal were among those reviewed in the Narendranagar Forest Division.

In Hindola Khal, Shri Yadav noted that forest fires have primarily affected pine forests and observed an increase in such incidents. He highlighted ongoing monitoring efforts and meetings aimed at identifying local causes of fires. Shri Yadav emphasized the need for coordinated efforts involving the public, ensuring geographical assessments and local consent to prevent future fire incidents.

At Bemunda Crew Station, the minister engaged with rural women, villagers, and forest personnel to discuss the causes and mitigation of forest fires. He underscored the Forest Department's role in enhancing preparedness and prompt response mechanisms upon receiving fire alerts. Shri Yadav stressed the importance of community participation in forest fire management and expressed deep concern over recent fire incidents causing loss of life and property.

In the Badshahithaul Forest Range, Shri Bhupender Yadav interacted with officials and forest personnel from the Uttarakhand Forest Department. Forest Minister of Uttarakhand Government, Mr. Subodh Uniyal, former Cabinet Minister Mr. Kishore Upadhyay, and senior forest department officials were also present during the discussions.

The visit highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Central and State Governments to mitigate forest fire risks and underscored the importance of proactive measures and community engagement in preserving forest ecosystems.
