Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Four Collegians in Maharashtra

Four college students drowned in a dam in Maharashtra's Raigad district during a trekking trip. The deceased were part of a group of National Cadet Corps members. Despite rescue efforts, four men lost their lives, and an investigation is underway.

Four collegians tragically drowned on Friday while on a trekking trip in a dam located in Khalapur, Maharashtra's Raigad district, a police official reported.

The incident occurred at 2:30 pm in Sondewadi, near Sondai fort, where the victims were part of a group of National Cadet Corps members. The incident unfolded when one of the men entered the dam to swim and began to struggle. In an attempt to rescue him, three of his friends jumped in but also started drowning.

Emergency services, including police and local disaster management teams, were promptly notified by the trekking group. Despite their efforts, the bodies of four men, all in their 20s, were recovered. The victims have been identified as Eklavya Singh, Ishant Yadav, Akash Mane, and Ranath Banda. Authorities have registered an accidental death case, and further investigations are ongoing.
