Bawana Underwater: Munak Canal Breach Causes Havoc

In the early hours of Thursday, Shivam Kumar from JJ Colony found his home and neighborhood partially submerged due to flooding. This deluge resulted from a breach in the Munak canal, which serves the area after supplying water from Haryana to Delhi.

Residents like Mohina reported severe disruptions. Mohina said, "As the water has entered our home, we cannot go inside. We cannot cook food for our kids, and there is no safe place to keep them at a distance as they do not understand the situation and are playing in the flooded water." Another resident, Arun Kumar, echoed concerns about the unmanageable conditions, particularly the lack of basic necessities such as drinking water and food.

Images and videos of locals wading through waist-deep water soon went viral on social media, showcasing waterlogged houses, schools, and hospitals in the Bawana area. Efforts are underway to repair the breach, with Delhi Water Minister Atishi confirming repair work on a war footing and coordination with Haryana to restore the water flow.
