IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in Andhra Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms for parts of Andhra Pradesh, including North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema from July 16 to July 20. Strong winds up to 40 km/h are expected, with a new low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal by July 19.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning across parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days starting July 16.

Specifically, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) are in for significant rainfall. Additionally, regions in NCAP, Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema will likely experience thunderstorms and strong surface winds reaching speeds of 40 km per hour.

A low-pressure area that was previously over south Odisha and its neighboring areas has now moved to south Chhattisgarh and adjacent Vidarbha, with a cyclonic circulation height of up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, tilting towards the southwest.

The IMD's press release also detailed the location of the monsoon trough at mean sea level, extending from Jaisalmer through Kota and Raisen. A fresh low-pressure area is anticipated to form over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal on July 19.
