Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Andhra Pradesh: CM Naidu Reviews Rescue Efforts

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu convened a high-level meeting with officials to tackle the extensive damage caused by heavy rainfall across the state. The CM emphasized the urgency of minimizing loss of life and property due to the adverse weather conditions.
Naidu conducted a teleconference with Eluru district officials, highlighting the potential risk of floodwaters affecting 15 villages in Andhra Pradesh and three in Telangana. Peddavagu stream in Eluru district is particularly concerning, with the possibility of breaches at two locations.
In response to the crisis, authorities have already undertaken multiple rescue operations. Evacuations were executed near Kattamaisamma temple in Telangana, and 11 individuals were rescued using an earthmover in Routhugudem. Additional evacuations and rescues took place in East Godavari district, with significant rainfall reported in multiple areas.
The Indian Navy also participated in search-and-rescue operations, deploying seven aircraft to aid stranded individuals. The Meteorological Department predicts continued heavy rainfall, urging residents in affected areas to exercise caution and avoid hazardous spots.
