In a bid to enhance green cover and improve groundwater levels, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced two significant schemes: Upvan Yojna and the Heritage Tree Adoption Scheme. These initiatives have been launched across the state.

Under Upvan Yojna, the government is providing saplings and tree cuttings for plantation in parks, along roads, and various spaces from cities to villages. State officials emphasized that this scheme aims to improve the environment, groundwater levels, and reduce climate impact.

Complementing this, the Heritage Tree Adoption Scheme focuses on preserving 948 heritage trees that are more than 100 years old. Spread across 12 districts, these trees are part of efforts to conserve endangered species and raise public awareness about trees tied to cultural and historical significance.
