A part of the gallery of a 25-year-old building in Mumbra, Thane district, collapsed on Saturday, though no one was injured in the incident, a civic official reported.

The collapse occurred in the Kadar Palace building in Kausa at around 2pm, stated Yasin Tadvi, head of the Thane Municipal Corporation's regional disaster management cell.

'A portion of the third-floor gallery, measuring 5 feet by 6 feet, fell onto the second floor. Fortunately, no one was injured,' Tadvi explained. The debris was quickly cleared by RDMC and fire brigade personnel, he added. The 16-flat building had been classified as 'C2B' by the civic body, allowing repairs without evacuating residents.
