Tragic Floods in Nagpur: Lives Lost and a Missing Child

Heavy rains in Nagpur district resulted in the deaths of a man and an elderly woman, while a 12-year-old boy went missing. The victims were swept away in separate incidents by floodwaters. Authorities have taken precautionary measures, including school closures and relocating residents to safer places.

Heavy rainfall in Nagpur district has turned tragic, claiming the lives of two individuals and leaving a child missing. A 52-year-old man, Bhojraj Patle, was swept away by floodwaters at Shyam Nagar on Saturday and later found dead. In Narendra Nagar, 85-year-old Vishvesharrao Weluekar met a similar fate, with her body recovered on Sunday. Additionally, a 12-year-old boy named Shravan Tulsikar disappeared into a swollen nullah at Mohan Nagar and remains untraceable.

The district administration has issued a press release stating that heavy rain disrupted normal life, flooding low-lying areas and prompting school and college closures. Authorities relocated residents to safer locations as a precautionary measure.

Further complicating the situation, the weather bureau forecasts thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rains for Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Amravati, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Gondia, and Bhandara districts. Notably, in Gadchiroli, 31 roads have been blocked due to rains and overflowing rivers and streams, according to officials.
