Manipur CM Encourages Tree Plantation to Combat Climate Change
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh called on citizens to plant a tree in their mother's name to battle climate change. At the 75th Van Mahotsava, he emphasized the need for mass tree plantations, aiming for 70 lakh saplings by September, amidst recent flood and hailstorm devastations.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday urged citizens to plant at least one tree in honor of their mothers as a strategy to combat global climate change.
Addressing the 75th Van Mahotsava, Singh highlighted the necessity of tree plantation for survival and countering global warming, setting a target of planting 70 lakh saplings by September. He encouraged everyone to not only plant a sapling but also to nurture it so it thrives.
Plantations have commenced in Nongamijing and Heibok Ching since April. Singh noted the occurrence of floods and hailstorms in Manipur and other regions, stressing that while humanity depends on nature, nature does not need us. MLAs and ministers are actively promoting tree planting campaigns in their constituencies.
