Telangana's Thandas to Receive Major Civic Overhaul

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced plans to provide essential civic amenities, including road connectivity, drinking water, and electricity to all 'thandas' in the state. The government aims to lay BT roads connecting these small villages to mandal headquarters and improve water facilities previously neglected. The Congress government is also focused on developing educational and infrastructural facilities to ensure inclusive progress.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Wednesday that his government is committed to improving civic amenities such as road connectivity, drinking water, and electricity in all 'thandas' across the state.

The initiative includes laying Bituminous Tar (BT) roads connecting these small villages to their respective mandal headquarters, regardless of their Gram Panchayat status. This response was given during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly concerning the upgradation of 'thandas' to Gram Panchayats.

Reddy criticized the previous BRS regime for failing to provide water facilities to seven lakh habitations. He emphasized that basic civic amenities in 'thandas' are crucial for the state's overall development. The Congress government plans to implement a special action plan to ensure neglected remote habitations receive electricity, education, and road connectivity. Additionally, 'double roads' will be constructed from mandals to district headquarters, and four-lane roads from district headquarters to Hyderabad.
