Nine new deaths were confirmed in Fort Bend County, with four attributed to hyperthermia. In Houston, over a dozen residents also died from heat complications following power outages largely restored last week.

CenterPoint CEO Jason Wells assured state regulators that preparations for future storms are underway as demanded by the governor and lawmakers. Beryl had initially left nearly 3 million Texans without electricity.
