Vietnam's Northern Provinces Devastated by Tropical Storm Prapiroon

Tropical storm Prapiroon has wreaked havoc in northern Vietnam, causing flash floods and landslides that have killed at least 10 people and left 9 missing. The storm's torrential rains have severely impacted the region, submerging homes, destroying crops, and killing livestock, with weather agencies predicting an incoming heatwave.

Northern Vietnam is grappling with devastation after being hit by tropical storm Prapiroon, which has resulted in flash floods and landslides, killing at least 10 people and leaving 9 missing, according to the government's disaster management agency.

The storm made landfall in Quang Ninh on Tuesday, unleashing torrential rains across the region. In just a few days, rainfall exceeded 300 mm (11.8 inches) in several areas, significantly affecting provinces such as Son La, Dien Bien, and the capital Hanoi.

Reports indicate that floods have submerged homes, destroyed nearly 30,000 hectares of rice and cash crops, and killed almost 20,000 farmed cattle and poultry. Although the rains have subsided, the national weather agency forecasts a new heatwave in the coming days.
