Karnataka Cabinet Approves Brindavan Gardens Upgrade

The Karnataka Cabinet has approved a proposal to upgrade Brindavan Gardens near the Krishna Raja Sagara dam at a cost of Rs 2,663 crore. The project, under a Public-Private-Partnership model, will include hotels, water sports, and other attractions to enhance tourism. A Centre of Excellence for Animation Visual Effect 2.0 and 15 new hostels were also approved.

The Karnataka Cabinet on Friday approved a comprehensive upgrade proposal for Brindavan Gardens, located at the base of the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam in Mandya district. The project, estimated to cost Rs 2,663 crore, aims to enhance tourism and recreational facilities in the area.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil stated that the upgradation will be executed under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model. The initiative includes building hotels, illuminated displays, and water sports attractions, similar to a fantasy park concept.

Official sources revealed that the master plan involves beautifying 198 acres around the KRS dam and boosting tourism activities. Features will include a helipad, parking facilities, a Cauvery promenade, and various other recreational and tourist spots. The Cabinet also sanctioned Rs 16 crore for an Animation Visual Effect 2.0 Centre of Excellence and Rs 105 crore for new hostels in 15 taluks.
