Questioning of MCD Officials over Delhi Flood Incident

Delhi Police are investigating MCD officials about the desilting of storm drains and a clearance certificate after three IAS aspirants died in a basement library flood. Officers may be called for questioning, while the owner and coordinator of the study circle have been arrested. A report had been filed previously but no action was taken.

Delhi Police are set to question MCD officials regarding the desilting of storm drains and the issuance of a clearance certificate to the Rau's IAS Study Circle, where three students perished in a basement flood, sources revealed on Monday.

The police will write to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, possibly summoning officers for questioning if necessary. Allegations suggest the drainage system near the coaching center in Old Rajinder Nagar was dysfunctional, causing rainwater to accumulate and flood the basement.

An FIR has been registered, multiple teams formed for investigation, and the owner and coordinator of the study circle have been detained. A previous complaint about the basement's illegal use had been filed with the Delhi government but went unaddressed.
