Dr. Sundergopal Sridhar, a distinguished Chemical Engineer and Chief Scientist at CSIR Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, has been honored with the title of Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), London, UK. Dr. Sridhar's Member ID is 771115.

With a remarkable 26-year career as a research scientist, Dr. Sridhar has made significant advancements in chemical and allied industries. His contributions include the commissioning of various membrane pilot plants employing Electrodialysis, Nanofiltration, Gas Permeation, and Reverse Osmosis technologies for applications such as solvent recovery, effluent treatment, and gas purification across multiple sectors including pharmaceuticals, steel, textiles, aroma chemicals, and petrochemicals.

Dr. Sridhar has also designed and installed over 75 water purification plants utilizing Nanofiltration, Ultrafiltration, and Reverse Osmosis technologies. These plants, with capacities ranging from 600 to 4000 L/h, have provided clean water to populations affected by fluorosis, typhoid, and other water-borne diseases across 10 Indian states. Notably, he developed an affordable medical-grade ultrapure water system for dialysis, benefiting over 200,000 patients with chronic kidney disease in both government and private hospitals.

In response to water scarcity, Dr. Sridhar innovated an Atmospheric Water Generator capable of producing 60 to 1000 liters per day from air humidity, serving regions, hospitals, and railway stations in need of drinking water. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he designed low-cost, multilayer washable masks distributed to more than 600,000 people, generating Rs 2 crore in revenue for NGOs and creating employment for 500 senior citizens and Women's Self-Help Groups.

Dr. Sridhar's academic contributions include 181 research papers published in esteemed international journals, an h-index of 53, and recognition among the Top 2% of Scientists worldwide by Stanford University and Elsevier Science Publishers for 2021, 2022, and 2023. He holds 15 patents, authored 4 books, and contributed 50 book chapters.

His accolades include the CSIR Young Scientist Award (2007), Scopus Young Scientist Award (2011), NASI Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award (2013), and several others, totaling 70 prestigious science awards. These recognitions underscore his exceptional impact on science and technology.

Dr. Sridhar's recent fellowship with the Royal Society of Chemistry is a testament to his exemplary contributions to the field of chemical engineering and his commitment to societal welfare.
