A landslide triggered by heavy rain claimed the lives of a mother and her infant son in Manipur’s Tamenglong district, police confirmed on Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred late Monday at Dimthanlong village.

A police constable was also injured when his house was swept away by the landslide. He has been transported to Imphal for treatment and remains in critical condition. Officials continue to monitor his health status.

The Met Department reported that several parts of Manipur have recorded heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, contributing to the landslide. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution.
