Devastating Floods and Landslides in Uttarakhand Claim 14 Lives

Heavy overnight rains triggered severe flooding and landslides in Uttarakhand, resulting in the death of 14 people and injuries to 10 more. The Kedarnath Yatra has been suspended, and rescue operations are underway with the help of the Indian Air Force. Several rivers are swelling, and heavy rains are forecasted to continue.

Fourteen people have died and ten others were injured following heavy overnight rains that triggered flooding and a house collapse in Uttarakhand. The region has experienced swollen rivers and landslides, leading officials to suspend the Kedarnath Yatra and launch rescue operations.

The Uttarakhand government has confirmed the dispatch of two Indian Air Force helicopters to assist in the rescue efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office is also closely monitoring the situation, ensuring that all necessary help is extended to the affected areas.

Meanwhile, rescue teams have evacuated over 1,500 people, although multiple casualties were reported due to drowning and electrocution incidents. Widespread devastation has been observed in districts including Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, and Chamoli, where more rains are anticipated.
