Heroic Efforts Underway in Wayanad After Deadly Landslides

Over 1,300 rescuers with advanced equipment are searching for survivors after landslides killed over 200 people in Wayanad. Early Saturday, a massive search operation involving over 1,300 rescuers, heavy machinery, and advanced equipment commenced in Wayanad, aiming to find survivors of landslides that have claimed over 200 lives.

Private search and rescue companies, volunteers, and agencies such as the army, police, and emergency services spearheaded the operation. However, large boulders and logs deposited in residential areas by the landslide present a significant barrier to reaching those presumed trapped beneath the debris.

Authorities have divided affected zones using GPS mapping, aerial photography, and cell phone data to optimize search efforts. Despite challenging conditions, including waterlogged soil, rescue teams persist in their search, aided by ground-penetrating radar and cadaver dog squads. Medical professionals and ambulances stand ready to provide immediate aid to any rescued survivors.
