Incessant rain for the past two days has wreaked havoc across Jharkhand, resulting in road diversions being washed away, trees uprooted, and houses damaged, according to officials on Saturday.
Despite the extensive damage, no casualties have been reported, said a disaster management official. The Jharkhand government has proactively closed all schools on Saturday due to the adverse weather conditions.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were deployed in the state's capital, Ranchi, on Friday to rescue residents from flood-hit low-lying areas. Although the situation remains under control, the weather department has issued alerts for heavy rainfall in multiple districts. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre warns of 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall in some areas and isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Northwest Jharkhand.
