Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the 24x7 Manimajra water supply project on Sunday, officials announced. The event will also be attended by Punjab Governor and Union Territory Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria.
The Rs 75 crore project aims to benefit over one lakh residents in Manimajra, covering areas like Modern Housing Complex, Shivalik Enclave, Indira Colony, and Shastri Nagar. It is designed to eliminate water wastage by maintaining continuous high-pressure supply.
Key features include water resource augmentation via leakage reduction, smart metering, limited groundwater reliance, and energy consumption monitoring. A 22 km water supply pipeline has been installed, along with two underground reservoirs each with a capacity of two million gallons per day.
