Ongoing Resettlement Efforts in Landslide-Hit Wayanad

Search operations and rehabilitation efforts continue in Wayanad's landslide-hit areas. The government is preparing for the temporary resettlement of survivors, with several bodies and body parts still being recovered. Residential quarters and private houses have been identified for the survivors. DNA tests are conducted to identify the deceased.

In the wake of devastating landslides in Wayanad district, search operations and rehabilitation activities are ongoing, with three additional body parts recovered near Nilambur in the Malappuram district. The state government has started preparations for the temporary resettlement of survivors.

The Wayanad district administration has confirmed that the body parts recovered will undergo forensic examination. So far, 231 dead bodies and 206 body parts have been found since the landslides struck on July 30.

As part of the rehabilitation efforts, a five-member committee comprising panchayat representatives, revenue department, and social workers will locate rental houses for survivors. Temporary resettlement includes providing household goods in new accommodations. Over 250 private and 100 government-owned buildings have been identified for the effort.
