Controversy Brews Over Delhi MLALAD Fund Utilization

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor's (L-G) Secretariat has ordered the city's urban development department to provide detailed reports on the MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) Fund scheme within a week. The AAP alleges the L-G is obstructing crucial public works through these probes.

Congress secretary Abhishek Dutt lodged a complaint on August 2, citing non-utilization of MLALAD funds for sewage and water pipeline improvements as causing major civic problems. The L-G's office has requested comprehensive information to understand the scheme's objectives, eligibility, and guidelines.

Detailed expenditures from financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25, mechanisms for monitoring utilization, and grievance redressal systems were also sought. Dutt thanked the L-G on social media, asserting that the truth will emerge. The AAP has accused the L-G office of ceaseless efforts to halt Delhi's development.
