Rajasthan Faces Heavy Rains: Waterlogging and Traffic Snarls

Several districts in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Nagaur, and Jodhpur, experienced heavy rains over the past 24 hours. Heavy rainfall activity is expected to decrease from August 17, although moderate to heavy rains are still likely in various regions over the next few days, causing waterlogging and traffic issues.

Several districts in Rajasthan, like Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Nagaur, and Jodhpur, have been experiencing heavy rains over the past 24 hours, according to weather data collected till Thursday morning.

An official from the meteorological department stated that heavy rainfall activity in the state is expected to reduce from August 17, although moderate to heavy rains are still likely in some regions, particularly Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, and Jodhpur divisions on Thursday and Friday.

Heavy rain activities are anticipated to lessen by Saturday. Light showers were recorded in parts of western Rajasthan on Wednesday, while several eastern Rajasthan regions experienced moderate to heavy rains. In the past 24 hours, Jaipur recorded the highest rainfall in eastern Rajasthan with 150 mm, followed by 107 mm in Sanju, Nagaur. The rainfall resulted in waterlogging and traffic snarls in the state capital on Wednesday evening. Additionally, the torrential rain that battered the state on Sunday and Monday led to 22 fatalities, with significant rainfall recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday.
