Seventy roads have been closed in Himachal Pradesh following incessant rains, with further showers predicted for some areas on Monday, officials reported on Saturday.

Among the affected roads, 35 are in Shimla, 12 in Mandi, 11 in Kangra, nine in Kullu, and single routes in Una, Sirmaur, and Lahaul and Spiti districts, according to the state emergency operation centre. Additionally, 22 power supply schemes have been disrupted.

The local meteorological office has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in isolated places on September 2. Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, the state has recorded 151 rain-related deaths and incurred losses amounting to Rs 1,265 crore.
