Super Typhoon Yagi Wreaks Havoc in Vietnam After Devastating China

Super Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm in Asia this year, made landfall in northern Vietnam, causing fatalities and significant damage. A body was discovered near Halong city, and a motorcyclist was killed by a fallen tree in Hai Duong province. In the Philippines, Yagi had already caused at least 16 fatalities.

Haiphong, an industrial hub, faced the brunt of the storm with winds up to 90 kph, causing power outages and structural damage. Authorities evacuated 50,000 people and suspended operations at airports and schools. Scientists link the increasing strength of typhoons to climate change.
