Alarmed by the rising fatalities, forest officials issued an order to shoot the leopard, following the latest fatality: a 55-year-old woman, Kamla Kanwar. The order, however, prescribes that attempts to tranquilize or trap the leopard should be made first.

Deputy Conservator of Forest Ajay Chittora confirmed coordinated efforts are ongoing. Cages have been set up, and locals are aiding in the search. Meanwhile, neighboring Uttar Pradesh deals with similar human-wildlife conflicts, grappling with recent wolf attacks.
