The Commission for Air Quality Management has intensified its efforts to control pollution in the national capital region by establishing a Special Enforcement Task Force. This task force is responsible for monitoring compliance with pollution control directives.
Aided by 40 flying squads from the Central Pollution Control Board, the task force performs regular inspections to identify serious violations of air quality regulations. These teams operate incognito to ensure effective enforcement.
The task force frequently reviews the ground situation, considering reports of non-compliance and taking action against violators. It has conducted nearly 19,000 inspections and issued over 1,000 closure directions. Additionally, the commission collaborates with state governments to address stubble burning, having allocated significant funds to promote crop residue management.
