New Delhi's Bold Move: Double Parking Charges to Combat Pollution

In a bid to tackle air pollution, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation has doubled parking fees in Lutyens' Delhi. The hike aims to promote public transport use amid rising pollution levels. However, the new rates exclude on-street parking and monthly pass holders and await GRAP Stage II's revocation.

The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has taken decisive action to combat escalating air pollution by doubling parking fees in the prestigious Lutyens' Delhi area.

This increase, driven by environmental conditions, applies to off-road and indoor parking under NDMC’s management until the lifting of Stage II of the GRAP.

Notably, this fee hike does not affect on-street parking or monthly pass holders, although MCD has not yet implemented similar measures.
