In a concerning turn of events, rabies infection has been identified in one of five golden jackals that perished separately in Mumbai over a month, according to forest department officials.
The series of deaths prompted authorities to send brain samples from the most recently deceased jackal for rabies testing. The results confirmed the presence of rabies, as conveyed by the officials.
This situation has involved the efforts of the Mumbai Range of the Thane Territorial Wing of the Forest Department, with two carcasses found and three live jackals rescued. Rehabilitation and treatment are being managed by the RAWW organization.
